Dr Wilson Lo has been training in Chinese martial arts for 34 years. He initially started training in Bac Fu Do, then Wing Chun. He attained a senior instructor level (Black Sash) in Yi Quan at the Sydney Self Defence Centre and started the successful junior school there. After moving back to his home town of Canberra he attained a black belt in Cheng style Ba Gwa Zhang and then an instructor level in Black Eagle Eskrima from Holistic Combat Arts. He founded the Yut Hung Kung Fu Academy on 17 May 2004 and has taught every class since then. He has also taught in Tonga and various school groups in Canberra. Dr Lo has also studied Hung Gar Kuen under Oscar Ma of Hong Kong.
He is a full member of Kung Fu Wu Shu Australia and The World Kuo Shu Federation. He is an accredited level one kung fu coach under the Australian Coaching Council and has a Certificate IV in Fitness with specialisation in exercise for children and young adults. Currently he is the Australian representative on the Executive Committee of the World Kuo Shu Federation and the Treasurer of UC Stars Kung Fu. Dr Lo also works as a medical practitioner with extra qualifications in Paediatrics, General Practice, Sports Medicine and Acupuncture. Currently he is the team doctor for the junior Canberra Raiders (NSWRL), the Canberra Raiders inaugural women's team (NRLW) and is the practice principal of Bruce Sports Medicine.
Sisook Lochlan Graf - Kung Fu Instructor
Lochlan has been training at the Yut Kung Kung Fu Academy since 2011 and is currently completing Year 12 at Daramalan College. He is hoping to study engineering next year and is also an active gymnastics coach. His rank is senior purple sash lion and he is working towards achieving a senior instructor qualification (Red Sash). Lochlan has been the recipient of the Three Virtues Award 2 times and his attitude and character truly represents what our school is about.
Rex (Jishen) Li - Lion Dance Instructor
Rex has moved from Guangdong, China recently where he had been practising lion dancing for 8 years under various teams. Most notably he was studying lion and dragon dance under Yau Kung Mun at the South China Agricultural University. He obtained first place In Southern Lion Dance in the Guangdong traditional dragon and lion dance competition in 2016.
We are fortunate to have him instruct lion dance as he is undergoing a Bachelor of Commerce degree under a scholarship arrangement at the University of Canberra. Rex teaches at the UC Kung Fu Association lessons on Sunday evenings.
Evelyn Wu - Percussion Instructor
Evelyn grew up in Wuhu, Anhui Province in China and learnt western drumming in high school. She then studied traditional Chinese drumming under Sifu Zili Chen when she went to Central South University. She also studied dragon dance there and each year the team won an award at the National University Student Lion and Dragon Dance Championships.
She is currently studying Environmental Studies at the Australian National University. She trains and performs with the UC Kung Fu Association where she is the chief percussion teacher.
Ares Nie - Wushu and Dragon Dance Instructor
Ares grew up in Changsha, Hunan in China and started training in wushu from the age of 8 yo under Master Shunzhi. He was accepted into Central South University as a level two National athlete in wushu. It was there that he learnt and competed in dragon dance as the head of the dragon. In 2009 Ares became the wushu champion of Hunan Province and in 2012 his dragon team won the gold medal in dragon dance at the National University Dragon Dance Championships. Ares obtained a Master of Finance from the Australian National University and now teaches and performs at the UC Kung Fu Association where is the chief dragon dance and wushu instructor.
Will Chen - Wushu and Kung Fu Instructor and Manager
Will grew up in Fujian province in China and has trained in Zi Ran Men and Muay Thai in China, Singapore and Sydney. He is studying a Masters of Professional Accounting at the University of Canberra and since his time in Canberra has competed and become 2018 ACT Male champion in forms and continous sparring in the National All Styles ACT Championships. He was also on the NSW/ACT team in the National Championships and achieved a 2nd place in sparring. He is training at the Yut Kung Kung Fu Academy and teachers and performs at the UC Kung Fu Association where he is an instructor teaching in his own right and also works as a manager and adminstrator
