We held our final gradings for the year last week.  The results were as follows:

Senior White Sash Dragon - Elvin Lee, Itamar Oren, Asher Lee
Junior Yellow Sash Dragon - Sarah Gan, Zachary Gan, Jesse Lo
Senior Green Sash Lion with Honours - Lochlan Graf
Senior Blue Sash Lion with Honours - Isabelle Singh and Marek Leszczynski

Congratulations to all our graded students and in particular to the two students with the two highest scores - Isabelle Singh and Marek Leszczynski who attained 74.5 % and 79.5 % respectively.  These two students will be our students of the month of December 2014!

We've now finished classes for the year with the last two classes being gradings for some of our white, green and blue sashes.  The results will be published in the next few days.  

This year has been marked by our demonstrations for Chinese New Year, Floriade and the Asian Ambassadors Cup (promotion for the Asian Cup).  During two of these demonstrations we were fortunate enough to work with the Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance Troupe and look forward to working with them again next year.  The Floriade demonstration is the biggest event of our year with every single student performing in a 30 minute action-drama on Stage 88 with this year's production named A Tale of Two Brothers - A Chinese Western.  

During class we progressed through the year with basic footwork, blocks and strikes, to grappling, takedowns and then practical applications of techniques in sparring and self defence situations.  All with a lot of fun and minimal injury!  We can never forget what our school stands for and why we are here - to learn self defence in order to give us the confidence and skills to be beneficial members of our communities.  

Recently in the news we have all been exposed to tragic events with the unexpected loss of lives of many people.  May we all stay safe during these holidays and support each other in our kung fu family, our own families back home and the wider community.

With that out of the way next week will be grading week!

Congratulations to our students of the month of November.  This month 3 students deserved the award for putting in extra practice and performing in the Asian Ambassadors Cup demonstration before the final of the tournament.  The students were Jesse Lo, Isabelle Singh and we welcomed the return of Sisook Henry Skelly who made a comeback to help out our school.
