Our classes are strictly following Covid Safe protocols as set out by the Martial Arts Industry Association which includes exclusion of any unwell students and instructors from classes, temperature testing, frequent use of hand sanitiser, cleaning of equipment before and after use with restrictions and restrictions on partner work. Everyone takes part in these procedures and it has become a normal part of our classes.
We will concentrate on another grading at the end of this term and also practising for our new free performance of martial arts, lion dance and dragon dance on 5th and 6th September in the Canberra CBD and Braddon. ROAR for CANBERRA is a good luck blessing for all Canberrans and can be enjoyed in person on a limited bases and on live stream.
It is part of the Where You Are Festival by Rise Canberra and proudly supported by the ACT Government. You can find our more information here:
We've ramped up measures recently to prevent the tranmission of disease including viruses recently in class including the use of hand sanitiser at the start and end of each class and wiping down all equipment with antiseptic wipes are each class. We also stop anyone who has been overseas in the last 14 days from coming to class. All students have been enthusiastic in doing this and we have had no student being suspected of carrying the novel coronavirus. However as a medical doctor I've taken the decision to suspend all our face to face classes for the time being considering the transmission of the novel coronavirus in Australia is predicted to exponentially rise in the next 2 weeks.
The safety of all our students and their families is paramount. Luckily we still have online content as part of our course and plenty of ongoing online teaching will be coming in the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience in understanding this situation.

Holiday season is in full swing and we all need a break! It has been a busy year for the academy with so many new students and so many students sitting gradings and gaining so many useful self defence skills. Our performance side has been the busiest ever with over 70 performances and workshops this year.
We recently announced our award winners for this year and you can view them on our students page
Next year will be just as busy and we are preparing for 2020 already. The Year of the Rat starts on 25th January 2020 and we already have many performances around Canberra locked in.
Our classes at Radford are on a break until Monday 3rd February but our classes at UC are still in full swing with extra sessions to help us prepare for next year. You will also see some new lions we have had made for our academy from China plus 5 new dragons!

Following our performance at the VIP opening of the Historical Expression of Chinese Art exhibition at the National Museum of Australia we have been invited back to run workshops during the July school holidays and perform at the Chinese Festival Day on Sunday 21st July. Each week we will hold workshops on the Wednesday and Friday of the holidays:

1130 -1300 Kung Fu. Includes basic movements in the air and on the pads, forms, stretches, breathing and meditation.
Both these workshops are great as standalone activities for the holidays for the kids and also great introductions if they are keen to commit further to join our regular classes.
Each class is limited to 30 students so you need to book tickets early to avoid disappointment. You can book HERE

This year we have decided to move from our home at the AIS to Radford College to pursue closer ties to the school and be more accessible for students catching public transport. Our new training facility is in the G Wigg Sports Centre. It is best to access the entrance to Radford off Haydon Drive in Bruce , turn right at the roundabout then park closet to the Sports Centre. Our room is on the left after walking through the entrance.
The classes are now longer being 90 minutes although the last 30 minutes are optional for students who are pursuing more training time.
Our classes at UC are still on Sundays at the refectory.
We had a tough grading in Term 4 in 2018 and we wish to congratulate the following students with their new levels:
Marcus Hunter - Junior White Sash Dragon
Liam Hunter - Senior White Sash Dragon
Liam Whiting - Senior White Sash Dragon
Jesse Lo - Junior Blue Sash Lion
Tyson Baker - Junior Blue Sash Lion
Tyson Baker will undergo a further assessment to upgrade to an adult Wolf Pack Black Sash system to attain Black Sash Level 4.
