Following our performance at the VIP opening of the Historical Expression of Chinese Art exhibition at the National Museum of Australia we have been invited back to run workshops during the July school holidays and perform at the Chinese Festival Day on Sunday 21st July. Each week we will hold workshops on the Wednesday and Friday of the holidays:
0930 - 1100 Dragon and Lion Dance. This will include chinese percussion which provides the heartbeat of the dragons and lions.
1130 -1300 Kung Fu. Includes basic movements in the air and on the pads, forms, stretches, breathing and meditation.
Both these workshops are great as standalone activities for the holidays for the kids and also great introductions if they are keen to commit further to join our regular classes.
Each class is limited to 30 students so you need to book tickets early to avoid disappointment. You can book HERE
On Thursday 4th July we held a junior white sash grading for 3 of our students at our Radford classes. We'd like to congratulate the following students for promotion to Senior White Sash Dragon:
They will receive their stripes for their sashes and grading certificates at the start of term 3.
We now have a break with our Radford classes and resume them on Monday 22nd July. Term three will concentrate on flow of techniques, forms, weaponry and preparation for our play at Floriade.
Term Two of our lessons starts this week! Our UC lesson will have a surprise guest visiting from Melbourne for the start of our lesson! Our Radford lessons will concentrate on partner techniques, combinations and multiple opponent work. We will also hold another grading at the end of Term Two.
In other news we are pleased to announce Liam Hunter is now promoted to Junior Yellow Sash Dragon.
The results from the Term One gradings are coming in and so far we are pleased to announce the following succesful candidates:

Congratulations on all 3 of our hardworking students!
This year we have decided to move from our home at the AIS to Radford College to pursue closer ties to the school and be more accessible for students catching public transport. Our new training facility is in the G Wigg Sports Centre. It is best to access the entrance to Radford off Haydon Drive in Bruce , turn right at the roundabout then park closet to the Sports Centre. Our room is on the left after walking through the entrance.
The classes are now longer being 90 minutes although the last 30 minutes are optional for students who are pursuing more training time.
Our classes at UC are still on Sundays at the refectory.
We had a tough grading in Term 4 in 2018 and we wish to congratulate the following students with their new levels:
Marcus Hunter - Junior White Sash Dragon
Liam Hunter - Senior White Sash Dragon
Liam Whiting - Senior White Sash Dragon
Jesse Lo - Junior Blue Sash Lion
Tyson Baker - Junior Blue Sash Lion
Tyson Baker will undergo a further assessment to upgrade to an adult Wolf Pack Black Sash system to attain Black Sash Level 4.

BIGGER AND BETTER TRAINING SESSIONS ALL YEAR ROUND AT UC
Our regular Sunday training sessions at UC will be revamped to make them much more efficient and effective for all who want to learn. Remember you do not have to be a UC student to come to these sessions. These sessions will act as a third lesson each week to complement the Monday and Thursday classes so kung fu students now have the option of 3 different training times each week which they can change and use depending on their life circumstances. We are all busy with other commitments and life events so 3 sessions each week will give you flexibility from week to week.
These lessons at UC will start again on Sunday 24th February 2019 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. They consist of:
6 - 7pm YHKFA kung fu training. For students who only want to attend kung fu they can just come to this session only. However we welcome students who want to stay on for additional training
7- 7:30 pm Training in Zi Ran Men and Muay Thai with Mr Will Chen
7:30 - 8:30 pm Canberra Dragon Dance - Lion/Dragon/Percussion training with Mr Rex Li, Mr Ares Nie and Ms Evelyn Wu
